CHORUS AUDITIONS FOR THE 2017-2018 SEASON WILL BE HELD ON THE FOLLOWING DATES:

Saturday, August 26, 2017                            11:00 AM – 3:00 PM

Thursday, August 31, 2017                            7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Tuesday, September 5, 2017                         7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Thursday, September 7, 2017                        7:00 PM – 10:00 PM

Singers of all voice types are welcome to audition. Please review the rehearsal and performance schedules carefully.  If cast, you must be available for all of these dates. All singers receive an honorarium for their work.

Opera Chorus Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday morning and afternoon.

Tech and dress rehearsals are in the evenings during Production Week: Sunday through Thursday, Nov 5 – 9, 2017.

                    PERFORMANCES:   April 28, May 3, 6, 2018

Opera Chorus Rehearsals begin on Tuesday, March 20, 2018.

Rehearsals are Tuesday and Thursday evenings, and Saturday morning and afternoon.

Tech and dress rehearsals are in the evenings during Production Week: Monday through Thursday, April 23 – 26, 2018.

 

AUDITION REQUIREMENTS

Please prepare two selections in contrasting styles.  Choices may be made from the opera or oratorio repertoire, or art song. At least one of the selections should be in a language other than English.  A pianist is provided.

SECTION AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL 2ND VIOLIN AUDITIONS | October 1, 2017, TIME TBA

To be eligible for Assistant Principal 2nd Violin and Section auditions, please submit a resume to Beverly Frittelli and a refundable $100 deposit to the Austin Opera office no later than September 15, 2017.  Upon receipt, you will be emailed a link and password for the excerpts. Auditions will be held at the opera office – 3009 Industrial Terrace, Suite 100, Austin, TX  78758.

Section and Assistant Principal Audition Repertoire:

A solo of your choice – a movement of a sonata, the exposition of a concerto, or other solo.

Please note: Austin Opera performs three productions a year at the Long Center in Austin, Texas. The Austin Opera Orchestra is not a full time orchestra. The scheduling for services for each production is generally spread over a 2-3 week period.  Austin Opera does not provide any housing or travel. The Austin Opera Orchestra operates under a master contract negotiated between Austin Opera and Local AFM 433.
