Application deadline February 1! ⏱Submit your materials today, or help us reach deserving young artists by sharing this info and spreading the word. Thank you! 👏👏👏These six dynamic opera industry leaders will give away over $30,000 at our May 27, 2022 competition. First prize is $10,000. Applications are due February 1, and available through www.yaptracker.com/applications/butler-opera-international-2022. These women hold key leadership positions in the opera industry and will choose the winners of our international voice competition. Annie Burridge, General Director and CEO of Austin Opera; Nino Sanikidze, Head Coach for the Domingo-Colburn-Stein Young Artist Program at LA Opera; Myra Huang, Head of Music for the Lindemann Young Artist Program at the Metropolitan Opera; Tamara Sanikidze, Director of the Butler Opera Center and Artistic Director of Butler Opera International Voice Competition and Festival; Darlene Wiley, Executive Director of Butler Opera International Voice Competition and Festival; and Stephanie Rhodes, Conducting Fellow with the Fort Worth Symphony. And these titles reflect only a portion of the positions each of these women currently hold. Winners will be chosen through a live concert on May 27, 2022 with the Central Philharmonic at the University of Texas- home to the Butler Opera Center. The top prizes are $10,000 1st prize, $6,000 2nd prize, $4,000 3rd prize, and $2,500 for superlative vocal artistry in honor of soprano Kerry French McKechnie.All participants must be available for Festival dates in Austin, May 23-27, 2022. Through these dates, finalists will participate in masterclasses, auditions for industry professionals hosted by Austin Opera, and rehearsals for the concert.Applicants should be between 22-35 years old at the time of submission. Previous winners may not re-enter the competition. The application process includes submitting resume and headshot, videos of three arias in contrasting languages- one should be in German, and paying a $25 application fee. All decisions will be made from the materials applicants submit.
