A NEW HOME. A NEW NEIGHBORHOOD. A NEW LOOK.

Austin Opera announced the public phase of a capital campaign to support a new performing arts center and company headquarters – the next major step in the company’s evolution as an essential partner in Austin’s performing arts scene.

ENVISION

  • An arts and culture hub where Austin Opera can provide year-round community-centric programming and offer spaces for local arts organizations and artists to rehearse and perform.
  • A welcoming and inclusive space that is easily accessible and affordable to visit and rent.
  • A space where collaboration between arts organizations thrives and artists can do their best work.

IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES

  • An ideal venue for opera recitals, concerts, and chamber music.
  • A place for opera buffs and novices to discover new operatic works and bask in the sublime sound of opera’ glorious classic arias.
  • A setting just right for dance, theater, and storytelling to flourish.
  • A thriving Latinx music scene where the vibrant sounds and rhythms of Latin America burst from the rafters.
  • A go-to spot for music-loving Austinites to experience their favorite classical, experimental, jazz, cabaret, and musical theater artists.

When it opens in fall 2025, Austin’s newest performance center, named for generous lead philanthropists Sarah and Ernest Butler, will include a 195-seat theater and rehearsal space, teaching and practice studios, a costume shop, a conference center, outdoor event space, and the Opera’s administrative offices.

This new home will expand Austin Opera’s mission in exciting ways, allowing us to engage our community year-round with a broader range of programming while also addressing a critical need for affordable performance and rehearsal space in our thriving city.

In the coming weeks and months, we will share updates on our construction progress and information on how you can help us reach the finish line on this important project.
