Student and Discount Tickets

Austin Opera is happy to offer a variety of discount ticket options for our productions at the Long Center for the Performing Arts. We are committed to sharing the power of opera with our community and are dedicated to finding ways to make opera accessible and affordable.

Are you a creative or a student and want to see all three shows in our Long Center Season? Then the Community Rush Subscription is right for you!

Creative Rush Subscriptions are $75 and are available for artists, singers, dancers, stage crew, and more. Student Rush Subscriptions are $45 and are open to all students with a valid ID. Just fill out the form by clicking the button below and wait to be notified on how to proceed with purchasing a season subscription.

Seats will be assigned to you in the best available location. 

*We strongly suggest submitting the Rush Programs Form online in its entirety at least 14 days prior to the desired performance. After submitting a qualifying form, each eligible person will receive an electronic Rush Program Membership Card to use to purchase future rush tickets.

IMPORTANT NOTES about the Rush Program Membership Card:

  • Forms submitted less than 14 calendar days from the desired performance date may not be processed until after the date has passed — please allow at least two weeks for your application to be processed.
  • If you have not received your Rush Membership Card by your desired performance date, please prepare to bring your qualifying document(s) to the Long Center.

Creative Rush Tickets are day-of-show and for assigned seats at an incredible discount.

$25 day-of, limit 2 per person per performance. Open to active artistic professionals: visual artists, singers, poets, stage crew, dancers, instrumentalists, private music teachers, directors, arts administrators, etc. — come join us at the opera!

The process for purchasing tickets is simple: pick your performance, arrive at the Long Center when the box office is open (two hours prior to the show and up to 15 minutes prior to curtain), find the RUSH window, and have your qualifying material(s) ready. The box office attendant will select the best available seat for you, anywhere in the house!

When you arrive at the Long Center, make sure you have at least one (1) of the following qualifying IDs/documents:

  • Rush Program Membership Card*
  • work ID
  • union card
  • recent pay stub
  • business card
  • recent performance program dating no more than one year prior to submission
  • copy of newspaper or media article mentioning artistic work

Student Rush Tickets are day-of-show and for assigned seats at an incredible discount.

$15 day-of, limit 2 per student. Full-time students working towards a degree or certificate at any school, college, or university and have a current valid student ID.

To purchase, each patron must have one of the following qualifying IDs/documents: current, non-expired student ID. A digital copy is fine as long as it is clear.

The process for purchasing tickets is simple: pick your performance, arrive at the Long Center when the box office is open (two hours prior to the show and up to 15 minutes prior to curtain), find the RUSH window, and have your student ID ready. The box office attendant will select the best available seat for you, anywhere in the house!

For $15, full-time students may purchase tickets in the Upper Balcony of Dell Hall at the Long Center in advance of the performance. This ensures students a seat for shows that are popular and may sell out, and is an alternative to the Community Rush-Student option, which is for day-of best available tickets.

Advance student tickets may be purchased online, by phone, or at the box office and are only available for pick-up at will call. Students will be required to show a valid student ID at will call in order to receive their ticket. Limit 2 per order.

Note: as part of our ticketing policy, children under age eight will not be admitted to the theatre. There are no exceptions to this policy.

With the purchase of a regularly priced ticket, a $15 adjacent seat may be purchased for a guest age 8-17. One Companion Seat for each regular-priced seat, anywhere in the hall. To purchase these tickets, please call or visit the box office in person. These tickets are only available for pick-up at will call. Note: as part of our ticketing policy, children under age eight will not be admitted to the theatre. There are no exceptions to this policy.

Military personnel (Active, Reserve, and Retired) and First Responders (Fire, EMS, Police, and 911 Operators) with valid ID save 15% on single tickets. To purchase these tickets, please call or visit the box office in person. These tickets are only available for pick-up at will call.

Educators at all levels (preschool through collegiate) save 10% on single tickets. To purchase these tickets, please call of visit the box office in person. These tickets are only available for pick-up at will call.
