Details on this week’s program:
Episode 12: From our home at Indy Terrace, we are thrilled to welcome Contralto Alissa Anderson, a native Texan, whose “gleaming,” “rich” tones and vibrant program will leave you smiling ear to ear. She is joined by Nyle Matsuoka on the piano, and a very special guest – her husband (bass-baritone) Kyle Albertson!
Also on today’s episode: a clip from Austin Opera’s award-winning production of Verdi’s Aida, starring Karen Slack, Issachah Savage, and Donnie Ray Albert. Enjoy!
More on our Special Guest Artist:
Hailed for her “deliciously over the top” and “powerful mezzo” by Opera News, Alissa Anderson wields her comic prowess, striking features, and her “powerful vocalism” to great acclaim. Ms. Anderson achieved considerable success and was celebrated for being “impeccably prepared” and “splendid in every way” when she stepped in as Florence Pike in Santa Fe Opera’s Albert Herring under the baton of Sir Andrew Davis.
In the 2019/2020 season, Ms. Anderson made her company and role debuts with Opera Philadelphia as Princess Clarissa in Prokofiev’s The Love of Three Oranges as well as both her role and European debuts as Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd with The Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen.
